Please make a note of this important information before claiming Carer’s Allowance online.
Please be aware that due legislative changes in April 2013 you may be contacted for additional information in connection with your claim.
1. Passports - When you have completed the claim you will see a list of documents we need you to send to us. This may ask for your passport but do not send your passport at this stage. If we need to see it once we have your claim, we will be in touch to let you know.
2. Extra Carer’s Allowance for a dependent adult - From 6 April 2010 you can no longer get the extra amount of Carer’s Allowance for a dependent adult. However, you will still be asked the question ‘Do you want to claim extra money for a dependent adult ?’ as it cannot be removed from this online claim at present.
You should answer ‘no’ to this question to avoid being asked any further questions about it . There is no need to send us your marriage certificate.
3. Additional Information – You must tell us in the Other Information section at Part 13 of this form if the person you look after receives Armed Forces Independence Payment.
4. Internet Explorer 8 - The service should work on most Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh and Linux based systems with most modern browsers, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari. However, it is advisable not to use Internet Explorer 8 as this may encounter some difficulties.
5. Completing the form – Please do not use the following symbols when completing your online claim: £ ( ) @. Due to a technical problem, if you use these symbols the information you type in will be lost and your claim will not be submitted.
