Benefit theft
We want to hear about it
If you know of anyone stealing benefits you can contact the National Benefit Fraud Hotline on 0800 854 440. Your call is free and confidential. Lines are open 7.00am - 11.00pm, 7 days a week.
Alternatively you can report a benefit thief online.
If you have speech or hearing problems you can use a text phone service on 0800 328 0512.
If your circumstances have changed
If you deliberately fail to report a change in your personal circumstances you are treated as having committed benefit fraud. If you're prosecuted for benefit fraud you could be fined or get a prison sentence.
Contact the office that pays your benefit. And if you receive Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit, remember to tell your local council as well.
We’re closing in. And when we catch you, you could face a prison sentence.
