When using figures in time series please access the most recent release, as revisions to statistics may not appear in earlier releases.

Caveats

Changes to definitions for tenure types, and some methdological changes, mean that estimates of take-up in 2005-06 have been revised; please refer to the 2006-07 publication for revised figures for 2005-06.

Improvements in methodology mean that estimates of take-up in 2003-04 and 2004-05 have been revised; please refer to the 2004-05 publication for revised figures for 2003-04, and to the 2005-06 publication for revised figures for 2004-05.

In 2003/04 a new FRS grossing regime was introduced. Take-up estimates for 2002/03 have been subsequently revised; please refer to the 2003/04 publication for revised figures for 2002/03.

In 1998 pensioner take-up estimates from 1994/95 - 1996/97 were discovered to have errors, please refer to the 1997/98 edition for revised figures for 1996/97.

For pensioner take-up estimates for 1990, 1991 and 1992 please refer to revised estimates presented in the 1993/94 publication.
