The Law Relating to War Pensions
Introduction
This electronic version of the loose-leaf work reproduces statutes and other instruments relating to war pensions, as currently in force. It is kept up to date by Supplements consisting of new loose leaves replacing old ones being discarded. The work is made up as follows:
| Part | Contents |
|---|---|
| Part I | consists of relevant statutes and extracts from statutes. |
| Part II | sets out war pensions Statutory Instruments (S.I.s) and Statutory Rules and Orders (S.R. & Os) not included in the more specialised Parts later in this work. |
| Part III | reproduces the Naval, Military and Air Forces etc. (Disablement and Death) Service Pensions Order 1983 (the "Service Pensions Order"). |
| Part IV | sets out the Dispensing Order in Council of 19 December 1881 (Naval Forces), the Dispensing Warrant of 27 October 1884 (Military Forces) and the Dispensing Order by His Majesty of 14 January 1922 (Air Forces). |
| Part V | consists of five schemes, namely the coastguards, naval auxiliaries, mercantile marine, Polish Forces, and Personal Injuries (Civilians) schemes. |
| Part VI | relates to the Home Guard. |
| Part VII | reproduces instruments dealing with adjudication. |
| Part VIII | relates to the Ulster Defence Regiment. |
| Part IX | covers Transfer of Powers and of Functions. |
The abbreviations used in this work are listed here. Amendments to the text are indicated by blocked-in triangles. The text reproduces the provisions as amended and currently in force; text which has been deleted by revocations or repeals or superseded by substitutions is not shown. Readers who may need to consult superseded text (including, e.g., pension rates superseded by upratings) may wish to consider retaining discarded leaves for a suitable period.
There are several unused blocks of page numbers, leaving room for later expansion of the text in future Supplements. These are reflected in page numbers which show not only the number for the page in question but also, after a hyphen, a bold-printed number for the last unused page in the spare block.
For Supplements from no. 13 onwards, all new leaves are being printed in a new format. A header will be provided on each page showing the subject or title of the instrument. In the top corner nearest the edge of the page, the no. of the instrument will be shown (S.I. no., year and chapter no., Command no., etc.), and, underneath that, the place within the instrument where that page occurs. The number and date of the Supplement with which that page was issued is shown at the foot of the page, instead of in the top right-hand corner of recto pages only. Resources do not permit the whole work to be converted to the new format simultaneously, but a rolling programme of conversion, covering unamended as well as amended pages, will lead to the conversion of the whole work in due course. Until conversion is complete, we apologise for the mixture of styles.
This work does not purport to be authority for any legislative provision. It seeks to avoid anything which might be construed as a comment on, or interpretation of, any instrument. Thus material which appears to be misprinted or mispunctuated may be an exact and deliberate reproduction of material published by authority. Even so, the editors of this work, at the address below, would be grateful to be told of any errors which readers may spot.
