Review of the provision of passported benefits under Universal Credit – consultation on possible approaches
The Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC) has been asked by Lord Freud, the Minister for Welfare Reform, to undertake:
- an independent review of passported benefits
- to provide advice on possible approaches to the provision of passported benefits under Universal Credit.
The review will consider a number of key issues, including:
- complexity,
- cost, and
- work incentives.
To help inform the review, SSAC is running a consultation to gather views.
The consultation is aimed at organisations, individuals and any other bodies with views on Passported Benefits.

Consultation end date: 22 July 2011
