Digital services – getting people online
Our online services put the customer in greater control of their job search and benefit activity. They can access information at their own pace, at a time that is convenient to them with help at hand.
Online services
At the push of a button, customers can:
- search for jobs (Directgov)
- build a CV or get job advice (Directgov)
- get benefit information and an estimate of their entitlement (Directgov)
- claim Jobseeker’s Allowance (Directgov)
People tell us that they want to do their business with us online, and we are moving more and more of our services to digital formats.
Doing it online means customers can find out information and contact the Department when it’s convenient to them, putting them in control.
Help and assistance is provided throughout the online journey if they get stuck or have any questions. If people need access or training, they can look for local provision through UK online centres.

Safety and security of all customer information is very important to us. All our services are built to ensure all information is protected and in line with data protection.

Signing off Jobseeker's Allowance factsheet
Around 40% of our JSA claimants are rapid reclaimers, those who sign off JSA and come back to claim within 26 weeks. This is usually due to temporary contracts and seasonal work. To help these people move to our online services, you can now give the signing off JSA factsheet to customers as they end their claim.
