Royal Mail industrial action – Your questions answered

Industrial action by postal workers has been suspended. The DWP contingency arrangements for getting cheques to customers via local post offices have now been suspended across the country including Liverpool postcodes.

My payment is normally  paid straight to my account. Will my payment be affected by the dispute?

No. Payments made in this way are unaffected by the postal industrial action.

I have a Liverpool postcode and I am expecting a cheque payment - has it been posted to my normal address?

Cheque payments for Liverpool postcode areas expected to arrive from Friday 2 November onwards will be posted to customers as normal. This includes:

Liverpool post offices will be posting out all unclaimed cheques to customers at close of business on Monday 5 November.

My cheque hasn’t turned up, what should I do?

Well established procedures are in place for dealing with delayed, missing and lost payments. Where a cheque does not arrive, customers should contact their normal paying office.

How do I avoid this kind of inconvenience in the future?

By joining the vast majority of DWP customers who have their payments paid directly into their account. You can make this switch easily by contacting your payment office.
