Why we are here

The Pension Service forms part of the Department for Work and Pensions. Pension Service customers are current and future pensioners.

We provide our customers with pensions, benefits and retirement information, for example, State Pension and Pension Credit.

Our objectives are to

• Promote independence and well-being in later life, continuing to tackle pensioner poverty and implementing pension reform.
• Pay our customers the right benefits at the right time.
• Make the Department for Work and Pensions an exemplar of effective service delivery to individuals and employers.

Our services are available online through Directgov, over the phone or by post and email.

In some circumstances a face-to-face meeting may also be provided through Local Service, where customers would be visited in their home or somewhere convenient in their local environment. Local Service is established across England, Scotland and Wales.

We work closely with colleagues across DWP and other organisations across the UK with whom we share customers.
