Average Actual Clearance Time (AACT) Target 2010 to 2011

Target: Income Support 9 days, Jobseeker's Allowance 11 days and Employment Support Allowance 14 days.

What is the target?

This target helps us focus on a key aspect of our customer service: to deal with benefit claims within a reasonable length of time.

We aim to process customer claims for Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance and Employment Support Allowance within an average number of working days (Average Actual Clearance Time).

How does it work?

Claims for Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance and Employment Support Allowance are processed in different ways. To take account of these differences the target has three separate average clearance time targets:

These three elements make up the target. The average clearance time for each of the three elements must be achieved to meet the target.

AACT target data is updated each month.
