Average Actual Clearance Time (AACT) Target 2009 to 2010

Target: Income Support 10 days and Jobseeker's Allowance 11.5 days.

What is the target?

This target helps us focus on a key aspect of our customer service: to deal with benefit claims within a reasonable length of time.

We aim to process customer claims for Income Support and Jobseeker's Allowance within an average number of working days (Average Actual Clearance Time).

How does it work?

Claims for Income Support and Jobseeker's Allowance are processed in different ways. To take account of these differences the target has two separate average clearance time targets:

These two elements make up the target. The average clearance time for each of the two elements must be achieved to meet the target.

AACT target data is updated each month.
