Average Actual Clearance Time (AACT) Target 2008 to 2009

Target: Incapacity Benefit 15 days, Income Support 10 days, Jobseeker's Allowance 11.5 days.

What is the target?

This target helps us focus on a key aspect of our customer service: to deal with benefit claims within a reasonable length of time.

We aim to process customer claims for Incapacity Benefit, Income Support and Jobseeker's Allowance within an average number of working days (Average Actual Clearance Time).

How does it work?

Claims for Incapacity Benefit, Income Support and Jobseeker's Allowance are processed in different ways. To take account of these differences the target has three separate average actual clearance time targets:

These three elements make up the target. The average actual clearance time for each of the 3 elements must be achieved to meet the target.

AACT target data is updated each month.
