International partnerships
Jobcentre Plus is seen as a world leader in the provision of public services to people claiming working age benefits and looking for work. We work with public and private employment and benefits agencies from over 30 countries worldwide to help us to identify new ways to improve our services and share our own experiences.
Our main priorities for our international work are:
- to ensure that our operational policy and activities consider and benefit from an international perspective.
- to promote the UK approach to other international partners, through our attendance at major conferences and seminars and through the international media;
- to ensure that the UK is represented effectively in important international fora, like the EU Heads of Public Employment Services group;
- to ensure that Jobcentre Plus is an effective member of the EURES network, which helps to promote mobility in the EU through a database of EU vacancies and a network of expert advisers;
- to manage a major programme of international visits to Jobcentre Plus, which in 2006-07 saw over 600 visitors to Jobcentre Plus from over 35 countries worldwide.
International visits to Jobcentre Plus
Jobcentre Plus arranges and tailors programmes to meet the objectives of international visitors, and we encourage participating Jobcentre Plus staff to use these opportunities to share information and best practice.
We also undertake presentations on the role of Jobcentre Plus to groups of visitors
